As we take forward our aim to engage leaders at every level, Development Officer Fearghal Kelly is working his way around the country as part of SCEL’s engagement work on teacher leadership. We’re encouraging all teachers to get involved in discussions around teacher leadership, what makes for effective teacher leadership and how can we best support teacher leadership.

Fearghal is currently seconded to SCEL from East Lothian Council and he’s using his experience to inform the discussions and to bring together all the information gathered to support SCEL to identify what we should be focusing on to develop effective teacher leaders.

On the www.scelengage.com site you can keep up to date with SCEL’s developing work on supporting teacher leadership and also contribute your own ideas too. We’re using this site to develop an online teacher leadership engagement hub to:

  • Gather and share outcomes from our engagement workshops
  • Upload information on developments for feedback
  • Provide opportunities to upload and share ideas and outcomes from you and your community
  • Provide a space to discuss, and co-evolve, the emerging future of teacher leadership in Scotland

Here’s what people are saying about the engagement events:

Excellent delivery and really engaging. Practical thinking strategies and thought provoking. Will definitely take my ideas back to school.

An interesting and informative session, thank you! Lots to think of which can enhance my teaching practice.

I plan to engage with the Framework for Educational Leadership through SCEL. I have really enjoyed the dialogue with other professionals on this topic.

Felt like our comments are going to be listened to.
