Changes to the Framework for Educational Leadership

The Scottish College for Educational Leadership is planning significant changes to the Framework for Educational Leadership to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of Scotland’s educational practitioners as the education system continues to evolve.

The SCEL Framework, launched in September 2015, provides access to professional learning activities, resources, research, and SCEL endorsed leadership programmes to all GTCS registered teachers and early years’ leaders in Scotland.

In the period since its launch we have engaged with our Stakeholder Forum, Framework users, our Framework Advisory Community and others to continue to develop and enhance the Framework.

Areas identified for enhancement have included simplified access to the learning activities, the ability to maintain an individual record of progress, structuring learning activities so that they can be used to support individual or collaborative professional learning.

In April 2017, the Framework for Educational Leadership will relaunch to incorporate your suggestions and we are excited to share it with you.

What happens next?

  • In preparation for the launch, we have enhanced the content of the learning activities. Resources which remain relevant will be moved to the new site however they may not be available at the same link.
  • Please make sure you save any bookmarks to external sites, download any PDFs and save any documents which you are working on or might need in the future.
  • Upon launch of the enhanced Framework, you will receive an email prompting you to follow instructions to receive a new password for the site. You will be able to update your user details to enable a Framework experience personalised to your learning needs.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to, and support for, the Framework for Educational Leadership and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on framework@scelscotland.org.uk.
