Gillian Hamilton awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Educational Institute of Scotland

Team SCEL are absolutely delighted to congratulate our very own Gillian Hamilton who was awarded the degree of Fellowship of the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) at the 2018 AGM earlier this month.

The Honorary Fellowship is the highest honour which the institute can bestow and is awarded to persons who have rendered signal service to education in Scotland.

Commenting on the award, Larry Flanagan, EIS General Secretary said:

“The Council unanimously and cordially approved the recommendation of The Board of Examiners that the degree of Honorary Fellow should be conferred on Gillian in recognition of her outstanding service to education throughout her career, from classroom practitioner through to her leadership of SCEL (and beyond!).”

From her first post as a primary school teacher in East Ayrshire, right up to her appointment as the first chief executive of SCEL, Gillian has shown remarkable dedication, passion, commitment and leadership and everyone at SCEL and Education Scotland are very proud of her indeed!
